Geo-Location Filtering for Job Applications
Oskar Krzak
It would be extremely helpful to have a geo-location filtering feature for job postings. This would allow employers to restrict applications based on the IP addresses of candidates, ensuring that only applicants from specific regions (e.g., Europe and the USA) can apply.
Currently, I am receiving applications from regions that do not match my job requirements, which leads to wasted time and effort in screening candidates. This feature could streamline the hiring process for employers and improve the relevance of applications received.

Thanks Oskar! Most people in crypto use a VPN. Do you think there is still value in having such geo-location filtering feature?

Thanks Raman Sha, I get your point about VPNs, but I still think geo-filtering has value. My latest job post is a complete miss, with 95% of applications being random and not a fit. It would be great if filtering could happen in a smart way, let them apply, but their applications don’t show up for the employer. The employer should only see already filtered results. If the website displays that they can’t apply from a region, they’ll just turn on a VPN to bypass it. Better to filter quietly without notifying them.
LinkedIn’s example of filtering out "out-of-country" applicants shows there’s demand for this functionality, even if it’s controversial. Having such a feature even as an optional filter can help recruiters focus better on candidates who are genuinely located where the job is based or where hiring policies align. I’d still like to see this added!
PS: LinkedIn only notify premium users that their application won’t be considered if they are out-of-country.
